My Inky Friends Design Challenge #1

No automatic alt text available.

My Inky Friends are at it again! This time with a monthly challenge to be inspired by the samples in the catalog! What a fabulous idea! I know that I have taken many sketches and color combos from the catalog over the years. The catalog is such an inspiration that I think we take it for granted. Welcome to a challenge that will help you use the catalog for inspiration!

Well, I didn't get into my stamp room in time to be part of the design team but I am playing alone anyway! The first challenge was inspired by page 61 of the Annual catalog. Here is the sketch.

Here is my creation! What do you think?

Hope you play along with the challenges. They will be every 4th Friday of the month and you can find them HERE.

Here are our Challenge Rules:
1. Create something new that hasn't been posted before.
2. Follow the general design of a sketch, although it can be flipped. For a color challenge, Stampin' Up! colors are listed. You can use compatible colors and add black or white as needed.
3. Post your creation on your blog or online gallery, please provide a link back to our challenge. Provide a direct link to your project or post to the Linky. Please use MIFDC1 when posting to a gallery.
4. Feel free to combine with up to three challenges, as long a you include a link to the Inky Friends post.
5. Have fun!

Hope to see your creations too!

Inky Friends: Blending a Year of Cheer: April

No automatic alt text available.

Welcome to my Inky Friends blog hop! We are focused on the new Blends markers. You may be hopping around in order or backwards or just jumping in where you feel like it. It doesn't matter as we are all linked together so you will see everyone's awesome creations if you just keep clicking the links around! How fun is that?

If you are going in order, you would have come to me from Staci where she featured the month of March. If you are going backwards, you would have found me from Rhonda's May creations.

I have the month of April. In Wisconsin the month of April is usually cold and wet! Even with that as the weather, the birds are starting to come out. I love hearing them sing their wonderful songs! Because of that, I decided to use the stamp set Best Birds.

My first card is a sweet anniversary card. I colored the two birds and the branch with the Blends.

I wanted to use a little different color scheme with the next card. The Rich Razzleberry and Pumpkin Pie markers help to achieve this darling little birdie.

In Wisconsin, you can always tell spring is here when the robins start showing up! I created this card with the robins of spring in mind.

I couldn't resist doing a scrapbook layout with this set.

I have never used any alcohol markers before these Blends. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy they are to use! I was a bit apprehensive to give them a try and waited until the last minute to make anything for this hop. After I got started, I couldn't figure out why I was so scared of some markers! They worked wonderfully! Now I'm looking forward to using them some more!

April is the start of warming up and the wonderful birds start singing their songs again. I hope you enjoyed my creations inspired by April. Now I must send you off to see either what Staci has created for March with the previous button, or what Rhonda did for May with the next button!

Come back next week to see the close ups of the scrap pages and to get the recipes for creating these on your own!

Home for the Holidays

Remember those cable knit sweaters? This embossing folder is just like them! Isn't it grand?

This card was one that was created at my Stamp-a-stack a couple of weeks ago. The house was inked up in Cherry Cobbler ink. Then I wiped the roof off with a tissue. I took my black marker and colored the roof with it. Two tone stamping! How fun!

Merry Little Labels

This is another card that was used for my Stamp-a-stack. It's fairly simple and yet so striking!
I did use the fine tip glue and Dazzling Diamonds on all the snowflakes on the tag. It's really pretty in person. I haven't been able to figure out how to get a good picture of anything that glitters.
