Counting Sheep

Two of the Sale-a-bration items you could have picked in August and September was the Counting Sheep and the coordinating dies. These guys really are too cute and I wanted to play with them more than I was able to but I did manage to get 3 cards made.

I started with Fresh Freesia and added a layer of Beautifully Penned designer series paper. This paper was only available as a sale-a-bration freebie. The sheep was stamped and die cut. I colored his face and legs with Smoky Slate blends.

This background was made with marbles! Yep! Marbles. I put a few drops of So Saffron in an old clam shell container. I then put a few marbles in the bottom and closed the lid. I rolled the marbles around the container so that they would pick up the ink. I then adhered a piece of Basic White cardstock to the top and closed it up again. This time I turned the container upside down and rolled the marbles across the cardstock. I repeated this with Balmy Blue. I did do a Facebook Live creating this card. You can watch it HERE

This last card was a new fancy fold for me. It's called a Slide and Lock card. You really need to watch the video for this one but let me try to explain how to create it!

Start with a piece of cardstock cut to 8-1/2" x 5-1/2". Score and fold one edge at 2-1/8". Fold other edge to meet the other side in the middle of the card. This creates a gate fold card. To decorate the front flaps, cut 2 pieces of cardstock to 5-1/4" x 1-7/8". Adhere to the two flaps. To make the sliding portion, cut 4 shaps all the same size. I used 2-1/2" squares. Take 2 of the shapes and fold them in half. Put glue on the one of the non folded pieces and adhere to the two folded pieces to this layer making sure the folds are in the center. Glue the last piece to the top of this creating a sandwich that kind of looks like a butterfly. Decorate this piece. Make sure the flaps of the sliding piece line up with the gate fold.

Watching the Facebook Live video will make this all make sense. You can see that HERE.

I realized in writing up this post that I used the jumping sheep on all three cards. I guess that was one that spoke to me the most.

While you can't get the sheep or the dies any longer, the other supplies are listed below. If you click on the pictures, you will be taken to my online store where you can purchase the supplies for these cards and so much more!

Tailor Tag Punch

I had some more fabulous fun with the tailor tag punch! I'm telling you, if you don't own this punch, get it! It's so fantastic! I can't believe how long I waited to get it and how many different things I have been able to create with this punch.

I punched a piece of vellum with the punch. I used vellum because I wanted to be able to see where I was lining up the shapes. I then laid the vellum on my cardstock and used the water color pencils to trace around the image to create the beginnings of the background. I then used my water painter to pull the color from the tracing into the image. I did have to add some color as I didn't have enough on the edge.

I love the way this one turned out. I cut the tailor tag punch in half and adhered them to a piece of cardstock so that they would create a circle looking shape. I then die cut them so that they did make a circle. There is a space in the center that doesn't have anything. I covered that with the greeting that I die cut too.

This card was also created with halves of the tailor tag punch. I punched them and then cut them in half. I alternated between the wider part being up and down as well as the patterns on the paper. I adhered these pieces to a strip of Night of Navy.

I've said it before, YOU NEED THIS PUNCH! It's amazing what can be done. I have more ideas that I haven't had time to put together. Maybe soon I can do that but time is not something I have a lot of extra of, neither do you, I'm sure!
