Butterfly Brilliance

Butterflies are such lovely insects. I love to see the different colors on them and seeing their flight paths is fascinating. You may have noticed that I tend to purchase all the butterfly stamp sets. Butterfly Brilliance was no exception.

This is a technique called Joseph's coat. I started with a piece of Basis White cardstock. I sponged Just Jade, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight onto the white cardstock. I then stamped the butterflies with VersaMark onto that cardstock and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I then dragged the Night of Navy ink pad across the top of the cardstock. Then I used a tissue and wiped off the embossed areas so that the colors would come through.

I sponged the colors onto the rubber to create this card. I love the way this one turned out. The random colors all over are so pretty to me. The small butterfly is cut from the Sale-a-bration paper called Be Dazzling. Isn't that a great touch?

For this last card, I stamped the butterflies off to the right just a bit with Sahara Sand ink. Then I ran the cardstock through the Tasteful Textile embossing folder. I sponged some Sahara Sand ink on the edges and ran the edges across the Memento ink pad so that just the edge of the cardstock would pick up the ink. You can see one of the dies on this card. They are intricate and stunning.

Do you love butterflies as much as I do? I hope you are inspired if you do!

Confirmation Frames

If you have followed my blog for a while, you might remember that I make frames for the confirmation students at our church. Confirmation at our church is for about 14 year olds that have gone through 2 years of Biblical training and are ready to take communion at our church. We had 17 young adults be confirmed this  year! I have to admit that I procrastinated on completing these frames. It felt so over whelming to me to think about 17 frames! Once I got focused, they really didn't take that long to do.

I type the Bible passages that each student picks for their verse into my computer and then play with the font and size before printing them on Basic White cardstock. I then layer the verse onto Basic Black cardstock. The background papers are all designer series papers from Stampin' Up! The are all retired. I add either cardstock or another piece of designer series paper and a metal cross to complete the inside of the frame. I pick one word from the passage and die cut the letters from vinyl and adhere that to the glass of the frame.

I hope you are inspired to create something of your own!
