Simply Marbleous Daisies

Did you see my post where I shared how to make these chevron cards? Well, you can see it HERE if you would like to take a peek. When I was creating those cards, I made a boo-boo. I couldn't throw away that boo-boo and this gorgeous paper so I worked with it and created this card. My mistake was that I made 2 pieces with the slants going the same way as the other one. It so happened that they were opposite each other and worked well to create this card with the blues and purples.

Chevron Simply Marbleous

The Simply Marbleous designer series paper is one of my favorite papers. The one side looks like a satin and the other a marble slab. Both are so pretty and vibrant. I liked both sides so much, I decided to play with a technique called chevron quilt.

Daisy Lane

Daisies are my favorite flower, which I'm sure I have shared with all of you before. They remind me of summer and sunshine and simplicity.

I started this card with Merry Merlot cardstock and added a layer of Flirty Flamingo. I stamped the ferns with Garden Green on the Basic White layer. The greeting layer was punched twice, once from Merry Merlot and once from Basic white. I stamped the daisies and the greeting with Flirty Flamingo and Merry Merlot. The daisies were punched and layered. The greeting was layered with the Merry Merlot die cut in half and added to the top and bottom of the greeting.

Daisy Lane Tote

You may remember that I made a set of cards with Daisy Lane stamp set using Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo and Mango Melody. You can see those cards HERE. After I had made these cards, I really wanted to make a little tote bag for them so that I could give them to a friend. Well, it took me months but I'm happy to say that I finally made that tote bag! Isn't it too cute?!?

I started with a 12 x 12 piece of Basic White cardstock. I then stamped the daisies all over. I then cut two 1" strips off. These could be used as handles but I wanted Granny Apple Green handles so I put them to the side for another project, maybe. I then scored the bag at 5", 6", and 7" with the 12" side at the top. Cut on the 5" and 7" score line about 3" on both sides of the paper. This doesn't have to be perfect but should match. Fold the flaps into the bottom of the bag and adhere. Place adhesive on the edges of one side of the bag. Wrap those edges around the other side creating the bag form. Add top trim and handles to complete this bag.

Daisy Pages

These pages are quite simple but I love the way they turned out. The daisy punch is one of my all time favorite punches. I know you can't do too much with it other then daisies and coneflowers but I LOVE DAISIES!

I started with Basic White 12 x 12 cardstock and stamped the small daisy on it with Daffodil Delight ink. I used the hostess pack of designer series paper called Pattern Party for the black polka dots on the edges of the pages.

The daisies are two layers adhered together to give it a full look. I colored the centers with the Daffodil Delight marker and added Wink of Stella to them as well. The ribbon was colored with the dark Daffodil Delight blend marker and added to the strip of Daffodil Delight.

Now to find some pictures to put on these pages. I'm not sure what pictures to use. I will have to dig through them and see what would work. Yes, that means I create pages without pictures in mind. I figure that out later!

Baby Wipe Swipe: Whale Done, Daisy Lane, Stitched Stars

I have been playing with the baby wipe swipe technique. I couldn't put it down! It's a really easy technique. Take a baby wipe and fold it into a small rectangle. On the folded edge, place a couple of drops of re-inker. I like to work with three colors but you can do what you want! Once the color is on the baby wipe, pull the wipe across the cardstock leaving streaks of color. Try straight swipes or wavy or diagonal or whatever you want! Have fun playing!

Colors are Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green and Pool Party for the first two cards. I used Whale Done to complete these cards with. This first card is done vertically.

Then I did a horizontal card too. Why not when all the colors and supplies are out after all! To get the two colors on the greeting, used my Stampin' Write marker on the rubber, huffed and then stamped. The seaweed behind the turtle is the bottom of the jellyfish.

This second pair of cards I used Misty Moonlight, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight. You can see that I played a bit with the swipe and did more wavy. Daisy Lane was pulled from the shelf to complete these cards.

The flowers were stamped on Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight with the same color ink pads. I then punched the flowers out and layered them. The bit of Granny Apple Green that is peeking out of is punched with the sprig punch and cut in half.

One more color combination with the baby wipe swipe. This one is Real Red, Pacific Point and Basic White. I used the Stitched Stars dies to complete these cards. I hope you had a great day yesterday celebrating the 4th of July. Friends, family, fireworks and fun, I hope you were able to enjoy all four!

I think this one looks like a flag waving. The white stars have Wink of Stella on them to add some sparkle to the card. A few rhinestones adds even more sparkle.

I hope you take the time to give this technique a try. It's fun and easy! It can be messy but if you are careful you won't wear the ink all over your hands.
